Latest Tea Blends for Out of Home Consumption

Tea is a way of life in England. Following Portuguese Princess Catherine’s introduction of tea in 1660 AD, Brits slowly developed their love affair with this wonderful beverage. Eventually it became the national beverage in the country. Twinings is one of the most reputed British tea brands which serves many kinds of tea to tea lovers all over the globe. With the busy life style, now consumers have hardly got time to enjoy a relaxing cuppa at home. Also it’s quite difficult for a tea lover to find a place where they can enjoy a cup of tea like they do at home. By considering these trends and facts Twinings has introduced two new loose-leaf pyramid bag tea blends, created to maximize out of home consumption of tea. As Tea & Coffee Trade Journal had reported, The Full English Breakfast blend and the All Day Decaf tea products have been developed exclusively to meet the requirements of consumers in the out of home (OOH) market to ensure that operators can provide a unique and luxury experience to their customers.

Jacqui Chapman, shopper marketing manager at Twinings Foodservice said “Energy management throughout the day is a key consumer need and tea is a beverage which is able to deliver this due to both its refreshing and ‘pick me up’ role and also because of its ability to aid relaxation.” He added further “We also know that consumers won’t compromise on taste, especially in the out of home market and with this in mind, our two new blends release strong, well rounded and full- bodied flavours which consumers demand. The All Day blend is decaffeinated and this tea style continues to grow in popularity as caffeine conscious consumers want a refreshing drink with the same full bodied taste.”

The pyramid bags have been packed with large leaf tea so they retain the intensity of flavour resulting in a bold drink without bitterness. Tea bags are also plastic free and biodegradable (Made with Soilon instead of Nylon).

These two blends have been crafted specifically for out of home consumption. Those 2 varieties have a heavier tea bag weight at 3g, designed for a 12oz/ 330ml serve which is the equivalent of a tea pot of water (whereas most tea bags cater to smaller cups of water and are around 2/2.5g weight). The blends also meet the trend for a stronger taste therefore those blends brew with higher strength.

The Full English is a robust, bright and strong brew which provides an energetic start to the day ahead or assists to power on through the 3pm slump.  For those who are looking to refresh and energize with a cup of tea without the caffeine, All Day Decaf is a balanced, brisk and refreshing tea with a new stronger blend and enhanced bold flavour.

With 43% of consumers mentioning that they are willing to pay more if a premium quality tea was offered and 22% of consumers preferring loose leaf tea or loose leaf pyramid tea bags, the two new tea blends from Twinings help foodservice operators to overcome the hurdle of charging more for tea.
