Ceylon Tea Shone @ ‘Coffee, Tea, Cacao Russian Expo 2021 !

Ceylon Tea coming from the resplendent island nation, Sri Lanka is recognized for her well balanced tasting profile by tea connoisseurs all over the globe. Sri Lanka Tea Board is the government body which is responsible for international promotion of Pure Ceylon Tea. As Tea Board official website had reported, The eighth edition of ‘Coffee, Tea, Cacao Russian Expo 2021’ was successfully held from 11 to 13 March at Music Media Dome in Moscow. This year the expo brought together 170 companies which were exclusively for coffee, tea and cacao.

The Ceylon Tea stall was officially opened by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, along with Minister Counsellor Mohamed Anas, Third Secretary (Tea Promotion) Tishan de Silva and Sri Lankan embassy staff.

The ‘Coffee, Tea, Cacao Russian Expo offers exhibition, business practice, educational programs, professional tea and coffee competitions for tea masters, baristas and roasters. It is the largest professional event in Russia and other CIS countries. At one time, in one place, the expo brings together professionals from Russia and other CIS countries and abroad. Addition to the expo annual national qualifying championship – Tea Master Cup (TMC) Russia, one of the most attractive tea-related activities in the country was held within the framework of this expo.

The objectives of The Event

  1. To generate high tea culture
  2. Development of tea professionals
  3. Improve the demand for teas in Russia.

This year, the Sri Lanka Tea Board was The General Sponsor of the Tea Master Cup Russia. The Tea Promotion Unit of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia arranged to fulfill the total requirement of Ceylon Tea for the Tea Master Cup competition by offering more than 15 samples from different Ceylon Tea growing regions under categories of Tea Preparation and Tea Tasting. The Ambassador was invited for the award ceremony by the organizer and addressed at the event on Ceylon Tea.

  1. Tea Preparation category

Sixteen participants presented 2 drinks to the judges: Master’s Tea (any pure tea brewed in any way) and Ogranizers Tea (pure Ceylon tea that had to be prepared using the equipment provided by the organizer and served in To Go format).

Winners

First Place : Olga-Alicia Daineko (who already represented Russia at the world final in 2017)

Second Place : Alisa Sytina (Cantata)

Third Place : Elena Pazhetnykh (Japanesetea.ru) took the third place.

2. Tea Tasting Category

Each participant was given 6 individual sets of 3 black cups, where one cup with infusion was always different from the two others. Within three minutes, the master had to identify the different cups in all sets.

Winners

First Place: Nikolai Dolgiy (Orimi Group), managed to determine 6 out of 6 cups.

Second place: Ksenia Lozovskaya (Chaism.pro), 

Third place: Ilya Goncharov (May).
